Darius Cozmic Collection Arcade Switch NSP Free Download Now, admittedly, that’s a little bit of a controversial statement – for posterity, you’ve got three versions of the original Darius, three versions of its sequel Darius II (and Sagaia variation) and the excellent Darius Gaiden bringing up the rear. These are good games and well worth playing, but – and hardcore shmup fans will contest this – the variants are not that different. Starting (sensibly) with Darius, you’ve got the original three-screen ultra-wide shooter here, the inaugural mission of the Silver Hawk ship in its quest to destroy a captain’s table’s worth of seafood.ROMSLAB.COM BEST SWITCH GAMES

The widescreen gimmick is really cool but it ultimately means you’ve got a lot more to pay attention to, and when even the fodder enemies seem to take multiple hits, you’ll have your work cut out. Losing a ship will cause you to drop all your power-ups ala Gradius, so unless you’re good you’ll be spending a lot of time with a weedy little peashooter. Included Darius variants “New Version” and “Extra Version” mitigate this slightly with rebalancing, but they’re still no picnic.
WHAT IS DARIUS, REALLY?
So how then do I describe the Darius Cozmic Collection Arcade to people who’ve never played the series, let alone heard of it? Imagine one of those endless evenings “researching” whatever topic is on your mind. One minute you’re Googling Bob Newhart, and suddenly you’re knee deep in the Tommy Westphall Universe fan wiki. That’s what it has felt like, as a newcomer, to dive into the Darius Cozmic Collection. The rabbit hole goes deep.Moero Crystal H Switch NSP

I was overwhelmed with all of this stuff the moment I booted it up. Multiple games, some of them the same, but … different? I clicked on the original Darius (a fine enough entry point, right?) only to discover three unique versions of the game, spanning iterations that incrementally made the game more approachable. For example, bosses get easier and your ship becomes more powerful.
VIDEO GAME PORTS ARE BECOMING VIDEO GAME MUSEUMS
Darius is so much stranger than I had been led to believe, and the collection, particularly on Switch, is similarly bizarre and delightful. (The game is also available on PlayStation 4.) The real achievement here, and the work that’s earned the collection a permanent home on my Switch, is actually the experience that developer M2 has crafted around the game. There is now a much more welcoming, even accommodating, way to experience a previously impenetrable series. And M2 has crafted this wrapper without patronizing the hardcore fans who likely make up the majority of the collection’s audience. M2 provides the necessary context to enjoy the experience without changing the actual game. And context is crucial, because a classic game can be like a cave painting.
THE CONCEPT OF NON-LINEAR LEVEL
Darius also introduced the concept of non-linear level order which the series has embraced ever since. When you defeat a boss you get to pick one of two paths, with each zone given a letter from A to Z (along with V’ and Z’) for a total of 28 zones although each playthrough can only see seven of them. This gives the game (and the series as a whole) a lot of replayability as there are a lot of combinations and bosses to fight. Monopoly Switch NSP

Darius II utilised the two monitor arrangement upon release but did see a revision that used three. That revision was intended so arcade owners could upgrade the original cabinet. It is however the two screen variant that has been ported here. Darius II is a lot more approachable than the original, visually there is a bit more going on and the game feels more satisfying to play due to less frustrating enemies. The main new gimmick however was that bosses could change which side of the screen they were on forcing you to change orientation.
