The Disney Afternoon Collection Switch NSP Free Download Romslab Goof Troop is actually the outlier in that it’s really the only one that’s not a side-scrolling action game of sorts. Instead, you navigate a top-down environment with each screen presenting a small selection of light puzzles. You’ll spend your time kicking blocks to reveal secrets, chucking items at enemies, and using a hookshot to get out of tricky situations. It’s a lovely little game, though one that’s clearly designed for two players. Indeed, there are no gameplay changes to account for whether you play solo or with a friend, so given that it’s very much intended for the latter, you might find it lacking if you’re going it alone. Still, it’s a worthy addition for the Switch 1 and 2 edition, and one that boasts some absolutely banging music. ROMSLAB

The other SNES game, Bonkers, is a delight. Published by Capcom, but developed by Sun L, it’s a pretty basic platforming experience in which you navigate a series of simple levels with a few boss battles thrown in. The key mechanic here is that you’re able to dash, using the added velocity to destroy items and defeat enemies. As a bonus treat, the Nintendo release also includes two SNES games – Goof Troop & Bonkers (bonus points for anyone who remembers Bonkers). The afternoon collection moniker comes from a time of television where nothing was on demand – TV stations told you when you could watch a show, and you had better show up on time. Right after school, most stations would schedule kids programming until the news started at 5.
Then, access GALLERY MODE for a behind-the-scenes look at a fascinating virtual museum curated by the historians at Digital Eclipse.
It was also a time when games based on licensed properties were king. From The Simpsons to Sesame Street, if you watched it, you could probably play it. A lot of it was slop, though – bottom-feeder experiences with extremely cheap difficulty or a flimsy facsimile of the genuine article. In Disney Afternoon Collection’s case, we’ve been presented with a slate of (mostly) solid classic 2D titles. The most fun comes from the Ducktales and Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers games. Ducktales is a classic 2D platformer; simple on its face but Scrooge McDuck using his cane as a pogo stick to bounce on top of enemies and to use as a platforming device is easy and intuitive. Both it and the sequel contain challenging-yet-approachable gameplay, colorful & charming pixel art. NEW TERRA Switch NSP

The Chip ‘n Dale games feature gameplay of picking up boxes & items, tossing them at enemies, and getting to the end levels. Key differences are 1) much larger/zoomed in pixel art in the first game and 2) much better designed boss battles in the second game. These games aren’t about quick platforming or robust battling, only uncomplicated side-scrolling adventure that I never would have enjoyed under the Playchoice-10 time constraints. I had my first son and completely missed the release of The Disney Afternoon Collection that year. If you’ve been following along this far, you know that I’ve played five of the games but they’ve added even more to make for the following collection: Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers, Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers.
Solve puzzles as they try to rescue their friends from a pirate island.
By adding two more games, developer Digital Eclipse has captured nostalgia for those of us who began our video game journey during the transition phase between the NES and SNES. As our reviewer described in 2017, the developer has chosen to retain the choppy frame rate and graphical glitches, and I share our previous reviewer’s opinion that this enhances the experience and authenticity as I now get to relive my childhood video game memories a save system, the ability to rewind time, Boss Rush mode, Time Attack, and a museum with concept art and a music player. Unfortunately, both Time Attack and Boss Rush modes are missing from both SNES games, which is something that bothers me, as I have the most experience with Disney games on SNES. At least the games have been included in the collection’s museum with concept art that you can look at. Here we find everything from hand-drawn sketches to other artwork from the games. It’s also great to listen to all the songs from the games via an audio player, where my personal favourites are the soundtracks to Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers, DuckTales, and Goof Troop. The song Sea Robber from Goof Troop brought back memories of when I originally completed the game with my brothers it’s easy to get distracted for a second, and as this is the case, it’s worth its weight in gold to be able to reclaim those “lost” seconds. When I showed the games to my 8-year-old and 6-year-old, they were mainly interested in Goof Troop and Chip ‘n’ Dale.
Work together to jump your way through levels, collecting acorns, crates, and other items to throw at your enemies.
It was entertaining to see that the games still work for a generation of children two or three decades after they were originally released. It’s easy to see that this is a solid mix of games that feel both challenging and entertaining without being one-dimensional. For me, it was a surprise how much Chip ‘n’ Dale 2 differed from its predecessor. As someone who loves to grind through Goof Troop’s bosses, it was the game whose Boss Rush mode I missed the most, and it feels a bit sloppy that The Disney Afternoon Collection has been honoured with two new games without them receiving the same treatment as the NES titles. When the collection also includes two SNES titles, it’s easy to look for the titles that weren’t included, as after Goof Troop.

The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse is the game I played the most on the 90s console. Probably the biggest additions though are the Boss Rush and Time Attack modes. These games are burned into the memories of so many of us, that taking them to the next level was inevitable. In fact all the Achievements/Trophies are based around difficult challenges like completing the game in under two hours, or beating it without the new rewind feature. Yes the game has the fabled rewind, making them much less of a challenge for those that choose to use it. Of course, the game also supports save states and plenty of filter options for each game. I still prefer keeping the original aspect ratio, but sharpening up the pixels. New York Mysteries: High Voltage Switch NSP
