Were leaning into the ridiculous tropes that come from horror movies, especially when people die. I still can’t tell if it was on purpose or not, but in a way, I found it endearing. There are moments where the acting is solid, and I particularly like Daniel Thrace’s performance as Cole, but it was never too much for me to stop enjoying the ride may not have an original story, but it’s almost consistently gripping. This also means the story gets to develop more over time, and you can choose who you want to trust a former surgeon who has been kidnapped and brought to a top-secret underwater research facility. The swelling monstrosity hidden within the patient bursts out and kills everyone in the room in a brutally gruesome fashion. But then Cole wakes up back on the floor of the room. Cole is doomed to face the same fate time and time again in a seemingly never-ending loop upon his death. And just like in Groundhog Day, Cole learns more about his situation and the people around him with every loop. And only when he has enough information can he convince everyone of the situation they are in, and escape this eternal torment of his first five minutes repeating.
