Degrees of Separation Switch NSP Free Download Romslab The first two verses of Robert Frost’s “Fire and Ice” state: “Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice…” . Well, Degrees of Separation is a testament to those words, since you control avatars of these two primordial powers to get past any obstacles that you may face. The only difference is that they don’t end the world; they are just trying to find one for both of them. The story is rather simple really: You control Ember, a girl that holds dominion over fire and all that is warm in the world, and Rime, a boy who commands the frigid winds of winter and can control ice. While at first, the premise may seem like a cheap “elemental” take on the whole “Romeo and Juliet” mythos, as you play the game, you’ll realize that they managed to take this motif of two different beings working together and turned it into a form of digital art. As far as the graphics are concerned, they’re spectacular. The neat way the developers mixed 3D and 2D elements and the fine attention to details make the game so visually captivating that you won’t mind just looking over the shoulder of whoever borrowed your controller, just as long as you can still look at the screen. This fine attention to the visuals is further emphasized.
Discover the potential of dual protagonists Ember and Rime and follow a complex story by acclaimed video game writer Chris Avellone.
Degrees of Separation is focused primarily on the journey of the game’s two central characters. It can be tackled as both a one and two player experience, but to get the most out of this adventure it is absolutely worth picking up a friend to tackle this with. The game quickly introduces the two protagonists and their plight. Destined to be separated by their own worlds, they inhabit the same screen as they travel forward on their adventure. Revealing a new view of each environment they enter, Rime and Ember are both utterly crucial to the puzzles that pepper Degrees of Separation. Spirit of the North Switch NSP

Moving Ember and Rime is an incredibly intuitive experience and even when roping in another player, one more experienced with a keyboard than a controller, we found the simplicity of the game’s control system meant that navigating the 2D environment was simple enough. Interacting with objects is largely a case of hitting one button and many of the game’s environmental puzzles rely on correctly controlling characters to be in the right place at the right time. This means that while areas of the world reveal new secrets to the elements, overcoming problems is as much about logic as reaction time.
Navigate distinct worlds and solve complex puzzles to organically alter situations and surroundings.
Each character emanates their respective elemental power, which causes their mere presence to affect the world around them. Lakes freeze underfoot for Rime and geysers of steam burst from the earth in Ember’s presence. Both characters are on the screen at the same time and at the exact middle point of where these two forces of hot and cold meet, a magical barrier physically separates the two heroes, which results in Rime’s side of the screen being filled with ice and cold, while Ember’s side of the screen remains warm and bright. This magical barrier is dynamic and shifts around with the character’s position, so if Ember is on a platform above Rime, the screen will be divided horizontally with the top half of the screen red and the bottom half blue – whereas if the pair are standing next to each other, the screen will be split vertically down the middle. One thing that is immediately clear is that the main puzzle mechanic behind Degrees of Separation is unique and I found it to be quite refreshing and interesting. The screen is constantly split in half with Rime’s area being cold and frozen while Ember’s area is warm and vibrant.
Traverse through diverse landscapes that each introduce a new game mechanic, weaving together gameplay, narrative, and character progression.
The whole game-play loop is manipulating the warm and cold areas to solve puzzles and traverse through the different areas. The beginning of the game has fairly simple mechanics, for example there are a number of lanterns that will raise a platform if warmed by Ember and lower a platform if cooled by Rime. Other puzzle mechanics are introduced as you progress, Rime can make snowballs to create a platform to access higher ledges, Ember can melt the snowball again to help roll it through tight spots, there are a number of geothermal vents that can launch Ember onto ledges, Rime has the ability to turn those vents off so Ember can walk without getting pushed around.

The most interesting mechanic is when it comes to water, not surprisingly Rime freezes water and can walk across the surface while Ember keeps the water liquid and she can run underneath. This mechanic makes precise character placement and placement of the rift the key to solving puzzles. Managing the position of each character and utilising this barrier to affect different elements in the world is the key to solving the game’s puzzles. Each character can be controlled individually (or by two separate players in local co-op mode), or can be instructed to wait or follow at the tap of a button. So for example, Rime may be required to walk across a frozen body of water in order to jump up to an elevator. Spyro Reignited Trilogy Switch
