DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO Switch XCI Free Download As you would expect from a Dragon Ball game, Sparking! ZERO has a whole lot of stupidly over the top special attacks that you’ll recognise from the show. When you’ve got enough energy you can fire off one of these by holding a shoulder button and face button together, and will then start charging a massive Kamehameha or rushing in for essentially a cutscene combo. Super attacks require you to charge your energy to maximum levels and will almost always knock out multiple health bars and trigger about thirty seconds of ridiculous flashing lights and one liners. All of these attacks are incredibly satisfying to use, but to so you’ll have to charge up your energy. This means standing still and shouting as a powerful and familiar aura shines around you, which as I’m sure you can imagine isn’t particularly easy in a frantic fighting game. As both players will want to use them though there will be these standoff moments where both players are just charging their energy and staring at each other, which always feels uneasy. There are plenty of ways to play Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO, from a story mode that covers pretty much every aspect of the show from inception to modern day to online battling.
Unleash the strength of over 180 fighters from Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, Dragon Ball GT, and selected Dragon Ball movies, all in the base game!
Starting with the campaign is probably the most sensible though, and provides a lovely nostalgia trip as it always does in Dragon Ball games. There are a variety of campaigns you can play featuring different characters, starting obviously with Goku but as you progress you’ll unlock campaigns for Vegeta, Piccolo, Gohan and even villains like Frieza to name but a few. What’s really cool about this mode though is that there are alternate story paths you can unlock by fulfilling specific conditions, which lead to some really interesting developments and are a fun challenge. A lot has changed about both video games and the way we play them since the last mainline entry in the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi series. As the first direct sequel since the PlayStation 2 generation, that means there’s something charming about Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero’s old school design and presentation compared to other fighting games on the market today. It’s tougher than Vegeta’s chest plate, and imbalanced in ways that are both annoying and lore accurate. Menus are labyrinthine, training tips are sparse and sometimes not very useful.
Authentic combat moves like beam clashes, rush attacks, movements too quick for the eyes to see, and planet-razing ultimate attacks.
But every battle is crafted with the sole purpose of putting the Dragon Ball fighting fantasy as it appears in the anime into our hands. The fast paced ki slinging, teleport kicking, and magical hair dying is great fun (when it’s not marred by responsiveness issues). The few areas Sparking! Zero does truly try to innovate, primarily with its branching story mode and create-your-own battles toolkit, are promising too. But playing this brawler can sometimes feel just as much like a labor of love as the effort to resurrect the series in the first place. Arena fighters don’t have a lot in common with their traditional cousins like Tekken or Street Fighter. Windstorm: Start of a Great Friendship Switch NSP

Instead of the fight taking place on a horizontal plane, they pair full 3D movement in largely open spaces with slimmed down movelists, trading technical complexity for spatial tactics. Tenkaichi further distanced itself from other games in its genre like Power Stone by turning up the speed, replacing throwable objects with big environmental features that can be blown up, and creating huge empty skies for wide open air combat. Other Dragon Ball games like the Xenoverse series have picked up the mantle of this particular form of arena brawling, but while both it and Tenkaichi capture the energy of Dragon Ball media – from how quickly.
Fight your way to become a champion across various tournament modes and victory conditions.
Even though we’ve had our fair share of iconic Dragon Ball games, like FighterZ, Xenoverse 2, and Kakarot, DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO has already racked up to be the most popular game from the franchise on release. The fact that Spike Chunsoft developed this game certainly took me by surprise, especially when this franchise is very different from the usual Danganronpa-like titles we have seen from the studio. With this much notoriety and an unlikely developer working on DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO, could this be yet another bag of failed promises coming from a highly anticipated game?

I should start this review off by listing out the sheer amount of content you have access to on release in DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO. You have a roster of over 180 characters—this includes all the different forms of each character you’ve seen over the arcs and moves that are unique to them. The game is expected to return to its roots as a fast-paced arena fighter with incredible transformations, and it definitely delivers. It’s the classic formula with modern enhancements—4K graphics and smooth transitions between cutscenes and fights. I already mentioned the massive playable roster, didn’t I?
