Eight-Minute Empire: Complete Edition Switch NSP Free Download Romslab Eight Minute Empire: Legends is a simple game to set up and learn. The rules indicate that one player should set up the game, but my wife and I did it together. First a selection of maps are laid out, a starting city is placed centrally and a few units for each player are placed on the city. It’s a crowded start but quickly reinforces that conflict isn’t the only way to victory in the game. Beyond that, for the basic game at least, the only thing left to do is hand out the small sum of coins that players use to build their tableau and lay out 6 cards for purchase, placing the deck of replacement cards nearby. Eight Minute Empire: Legends’s basic mechanic is straightforward area control. Players will earn victory points if they control territories and full islands. They do this by having more cubes in a particular territory than their rivals, and control of more territories overall to claim an island. Actions are tied entirely to buying and immediately using cards. Enter the Tableau builder mechanic. Six cards from a deck are dealt along a cost track ranging from free to three coins. Every player starts with the same number of coins except the winner of the initiative bid.
Learning the Heart of the Cards
At the end of the game, you score one point per region where you have more troops than your opponents. You score one point per continent where you control more regions than your opponents. Finally, you score points for collecting sets of resources like gems, lumber, and vegetables. Throughout the game, you will know where you stand in relation to the other one to four players, and this transparency helps you plan your next move. All this said, the core gameplay is quite simple and accessible, and each game does indeed take about eight minutes. Achievements round out the package and provide some incentive to play solo. As a life-long board game player, I find Eight-Minute Empire a little too basic and boring. Pocky & Rocky Reshrined Switch

I’ve played Risk and Settlers of Catan hundreds of times and countless other games with regularity, and I don’t see myself spending a lot of time here. Online multiplayer offers asynchronous play, but that just means dragging out the length of something designed with brevity in mind, and that’s if you can even find people online to play with. You can play with up to five players on one TV, and this seems to be a good representation of playing the physical board game. Even though the overall map selection is somewhat lacking, the UI and menus are easy to see and navigate. You could bring this out for a few warm-up rounds before moving towards a more meaty title, I suppose, but I don’t really see the lasting appeal.
pass and play mode
Sounds right up my alley then, right? Well…kind of. On the one hand, it was fun to actually win a game like this (even if it was against AI set to easy). It’s simple enough that even someone like me can grasp the rules fairly quickly: you get as many troops as you can, you gain as much land as you can, and it’s all over before you have time to get bogged down in individual decisions. Admittedly, I didn’t play with others, but based on my own experience, it’s safe to assume that almost literally anyone can pick it up and figure it out quickly, which is exactly what you’d want out of a party game. That said, the flip side of that is also true. Even for someone whose abilities are as limited as mine, Eight-Minute Empire started feeling pretty shallow after a very short while. It didn’t take long for it to become apparent that once you get beyond the initial bidding of who goes first (which isn’t something you want to win, since this game definitely rewards whoever goes last), most of the game is based on luck of the draw. You get 13 rounds of card-drawing, and even if you have to manage your cash a little early on to make sure you have slightly better options at the end of the game, it’s pretty apparent that you should draw whatever card gives you the most troops or the most troop movements.
3 levels of difficulty AIs with individual strategies
Eight-Minute Empire, by Ryan Laukat, is a quick game that implements the Civilization/Exploration theme using card-driven area control (by placing armies and cities in a small map) and set collection (by getting resources from the board and the cards). Players spread through the map in order to collect points at the end of the game by having majorities in regions and continents. All actions (such as land or sea movement, army production, or the founding of cities) are driven by cards that are face-up (six at a time) and available by increasing prices. Cards also contain resources, which also give points when the game ends if properly collected.

Its first version was available as print-and-play, and a regular (Kickstarter funded) version was published in 2013. An expansion featuring a European map is available as an expansion (Eight-Minute Empire: Europe Expansion Board), and a stand-alone sequel has also been published (Eight-Minute Empire: Legends). But, I suppose, that’s kind of the point of a game like this. If you wanted tough strategy, you wouldn’t be playing a game that can be easily completed in, as its name suggests, less than ten minutes. Eight-Minute Empire most definitely won’t challenge you too much, but as board games on the Switch go, it’s definitely among the most easily-accessible. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond
