Pokkén Tournament DX Switch NSP + Update + DLCs Free Download When Pokkén Tournament came out on the Wii U back in 2016, we thought it was a great melding of the world of Pokémon and the fighting genre, awarding it an 8.0. Here’s what our reviewer, Darry Huskey, said last year: “Pokkén Tournament takes a lot of what we know from old fighting gaming favorites and sticks them into a blender, delivering a unique take on both Pokémon and on fighting games in general. Sometimes all those ingredients spill over a container that’s a little too full – there is a surprising amount to learn beyond the beginner’s level, and that may alienate some Pokémon fans without fighting game experience. The same holds true for Pokkén Tournament DX for Nintendo Switch, which is essentially the same game as the Wii U version, just with five more characters, a Daily Challenge mode, a new three-vs-three mode, ranked battles online, split-screen local play, and all of the convenience that comes with being on a console/handheld hybrid. It’s fortunate that Pokkén runs and looks great as ever whether the Switch is docked or in your hands. The caveat is that if you’re playing in Split Screen mode the frame rate takes a dramatic hit, even with the enormous border around the screens.
All 5 new characters and Mewtwo/Shadow Mewtwo are available from the start.
The five new Pokémon that Pokkén Tournament DX adds are Croagunk, Darkrai, Empoleon, Scizor, and Decidueye, and it’s great that all of these characters and the originally unlockable Mewtwo and Shadow Mewtwo are playable right at the start. My personal favorite is Scizor, who has the unique mechanic of creating swords that float behind him and can either be called upon to enhance basic combos or used as tricky projectiles. I’m a big fan of air combos too, and he’s got a great launcher that pops the enemy into the air for a follow-up air combo. Bayonetta 2 Switch NSP

The Daily Challenge mode, on the other hand, feels tacked on without any real vision to it. Every day you get a new challenge that gives you a specific Pokémon, with a specific assist team, in a specific mode, with the promise of rewards in the form of skill points… which aren’t very useful. I’ve only gotten to experience a couple of these so far, but none have offered any interesting twists outside of having to win a fight using a character that I don’t normally use against easy AI bots that don’t require any sort of deep knowledge of a character to beat. Calling them “challenges” is a bit of a stretch.
IGN review
The new three-on-three battles are neat, especially because they feel more like actual trainer battles in which your Pokémon faint, forcing you to throw out a new one to continue the fight. It seems strange that they weren’t in the Wii U version with how much sense they make here. All things considered though, the mode doesn’t dramatically change the way you play — there’s no tagging characters in mid-match a la Marvel vs Capcom — and all it really adds is two more characters on both sides of the arena. Pokkén Tournament DX serves as a definitive edition of Nintendo’s fighting game, and it fits well on the Switch aside from choppy split-screen multiplayer. Five new characters and a new three-on-three mode are noteworthy additions, though the new challenge mode doesn’t live up to its name. The popular Pokemon fighting game comes to Nintendo Switch with added Pokemon fighters and new ways to battle other players. Take direct control of one of over 20 prized Pokemon fighters to defeat other Pokemon in action-packed arena fights. With Nintendo Switch, you can battle at home or on the go to become the Ferrum League champion. Bezier: Second Edition Switch NSP
Anime Flashy
For most gamers, however, the new Pokémon will be the biggest attraction. Pokkén Tournament had sixteen different Pokémon at its disposal, but this DX version boosts that number with five all-new beasts. Of these five, I haven’t really tested the humorous Croagunk and the intimidating Darkrai extensively, but I did get a good taste of Scizor, Empoleon and Decidueye. Empoleon was a character after my own heart: straight forward, straight forward, and he hits like a train, which is compensated for by his lack of speed and long recovery animations. Hard to get good at, but so satisfying and interesting! However, Scizor will be the most popular of all the new characters, purely because all of his moves are so beautifully animated (he’s anime-flashy as f*ck). Blue Fire Switch NSP Free

It’s nice that these five new characters also play away completely differently than the sixteen Pokémon that preceded them, because this makes the roster finally feel complete. So no Shadow Mewtwo or Pikachu Libre practices. A new level has also been added (a beach that serves as an obvious tribute to Pokémon Sun & Moon) but hey, that’s not much more than a nice extra, of course. Much more important is the fact that, completely against my expectations, the game is still quite playable with half a JoyCon controller! This means that you can play multiplayer on just one Switch for two, and that makes this version really superior to its predecessor. That all content is already unlocked from moment one (including Shadow Mewtwo,
Gameplay
Whilst games such as the Nintendo 64’s Pokémon Stadium came pretty close, seven-year-old-me’s dream of battling Pokémon in a way that feels ‘real’ has never truly been realised. I’m just as much a fan of the core Pokémon games as the next trainer, but I always wanted to see Pokémon moving around like real creatures rather than sprites that wiggled slightly. Now, thanks to an unlikely collaboration between Nintendo and Tekken developer, Bandai Namco, we have Pokkén Tournament – possibly the closest we have come to those dreams so far. Originally released in Japanese arcades and then for Wii U, the latest version, Pokkén Tournament DX, has arrived on Nintendo Switch with some exciting new content. Does it come close to my childhood dreams, though, and more importantly: is it worth buying?
For those who may have missed the Wii U version entirely, let me explain the game’s concept. Pokkén is a fighting game where you take control of the Pokémon themselves, battling in circular arenas. Unlike the core series, Pokkén does not work around an RPG system and has no turn-based action to speak of; you fight in real-time. The game explains that by harvesting the power of Synergy Stones (sources of very strong energy) into Bluetooth-like headsets called ‘Battle ARs’, trainers are able to be in sync with their Pokémon. It isn’t really an important fact but does clear things up for fans of the main series who demand answers as to why we can suddenly control Pokémon in this way. BodyQuest Switch Free Download
