We’re certainly hoping that this – a casual 3v1 fighting game and its palette of vibrant, eye-catching colours – does better for the team. Matches are split into “bite-sized” three-minute matches fought between busters (a team of three anti-monster human characters), who must sleuth and sneak around, and collaboratively defeat the player controlling the single, much more powerful monster and its undead army. That task is perhaps the longest three minutes you’ll face in casual party gaming! Combat is defined by equipment and ability customisation, with busters having the choice between shotguns, flamethrowers, and a multitude of other weapons.

Monsters on the other hand are encouraged to utilise an abundance of supernatural abilities, like super-sizing, beam attacks, and all that other good stuff that you’d expect a nasty boss monster to have access to. Seems heavily monster sided. You don’t have much time to react to an ally getting eaten and the monster specials are so strong they can easily chain 2-3 kills in a matter of seconds. The eye laser and the bull charge for example are just near guaranteed wins when aquired. Still maybe there’s hope it somewhat balances itself out in the long run. The reward for depleting a monster hp is also far too low, the stun only lasts a few seconds which is barely enough with how tremendously powerful the role can be and how long it takes. I also feel the soul gathering process is a bit weak because the enemies are uninteresting and lack the ability to threaten the player, as of right now you pretty much vaporise the trash in 2-3 second and get a soul out of it. Outside of the shield guys it doesn’t really matter what type of enemy you are facing either. I have never seen the mummies drop a bomb as explained in the game manual.

To be fair i think there’s kind of a decent core to the game as far as fast asymmetrical games goes (another one like this would be Jail and Bail/OBAKEIDORO!) but it’s not polished enough to really feel like a must play, especially in this oversaturated genre. With better balance and more interesting fight against the trash mobs i think this could go a long way to improve the game in the right direction. As for the online experience outside of an obvious lack of the players, it gets pretty annoying to get snatched out of an almost completed bot game (losing your rewards in the process) only to be thrown in a 1 human buster + 2 bots vs 1 human monster. It works well for the monster obviously (outside of losing your rewards) but for the buster role it’s very painful. A decent, cute looking effort. With some refinement in the balance and more interesting fight for souls the game could become an interesting party game.
