I like games with fan service, nudity, sex themes, or outright sex. I’ve already had a lot of fun with this on the Nintendo Switch, from Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 to Crawlco Block Knockers and Waifu Uncovered. I even liked Hentai Vs. Evil, despite its trashy Z-grade nonsense. But, aside from the fan service and nudity, all of those games had something to offer. That “more” may have been incidental, but it was there. They were obviously games that functioned as shooters, puzzlers, or whatever else.

Hentai Girls is a Puzzle Game, but as the title suggests, it’s also an ecchi game featuring scantily clad and topless girls in compromising poses.

They also had high production values and put forth some effort in their presentation. For example, Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 is still the best-looking game on the Nintendo Switch. You may have purchased these games for a bit of pervy fun, but the point is that they were also enjoyable and well-made. Hentai Girls is a Puzzle Game that was released in 2023 on the Nintendo Switch. And, as the title suggests, this is a “ecchi” game featuring art of attractive anime-style girls in increasingly revealing outfits and cheesecake poses, including some topless artwork. Oh, and if this review appears to be almost entirely copied from my review of Hentai World, that’s because it is, in fact, the same game with different artwork. Okay, as I’ve previously stated, I’m not a big fan of ecchi games, but I’m not necessarily opposed to them, as long as they’re a good game and the sexy stuff works for the game. When it comes to Hentai Girls, I suppose the sexy stuff works well for the game… but only because that’s pretty much it.

Hentai Uni has no gameplay to it. At all. It suggests that you can play the game with “one hand” (so you can wank with the other!

To be fair, the anime-style artworks presented in this game are nice, and the girls depicted are attractive and well-designed. This piece is accompanied by relaxing rhythmic music that sounds like it belongs in a pornographic video. Unfortunately, this low presentation standard is quickly undermined by the fact that anyone reading this review can easily locate. This is exacerbated by the game’s limitations: it includes only six unique artworks, as well as four variations of each of those works (varying states of undress for the girl depicted in said artwork). Three more appeared to be planned for release as DLC at some point in the future, but even 9 artworks in a game about artwork is pretty pitiful. Just Dance 2023 Edition

Players who want to play this game without pausing to… er… “admire” the artwork will find that it can be completed in under 10 minutes. That brings me to the actual gameplay, if you can call it that. There are more complex children’s games, but this is just a tile-sliding Puzzle game. There is no nuance, no skill required, and no timer. In fact, each puzzle begins by demonstrating how its tiles are arranged, making it simple to reverse that path. The puzzle frequently does not even mix up *all* of the pieces, making things even easier.

To see pretty girls in various states of undress. It’s a pity they’re not pretty, then.

Hentai Girls also gets this ridiculously simple gameplay wrong. When you select a pair of spaces, the game keeps placing your cursor on the *first* spot you selected, causing unnecessary disorientation. This disorientation would be alleviated if the game supported the touchscreen, as this type of gameplay appears to be ideal for it… However, this game does not support the touchscreen. The gamepad controls are also terrible, refusing to recognise directional pad inputs and frequently missing other inputs.

Hentai Girls is a mediocre ecchi game even by ecchi standards. Not only does this game use one of the most basic puzzle types as the foundation of its gameplay, but it also manages to screw up even that simple task. And that’s ignoring the fact that the game’s main selling point, the sexy girl art, has been rendered completely obsolete by the abundance of such images available on the internet. Furthermore, there is so little content here that one has to wonder why this wasn’t just released as DLC for Hentai World, a game that is nearly identical and could benefit from the extra content. In any case, you should avoid purchasing this game for a variety of reasons. Knight Terrors
