Travel through the land, from ancient dungeons to the bowels of an old volcano, slaying any enemy you come across along the way. LootLite is a top-down pixel art game that is easy to understand at first but may become a challenge for those who want to master the game 100%. You control seven types of classes: Warrior, mage, assassin, apothecary, barbarian, necromancer and the dreaded dragon knight. Each class has unique skills, so that each type of player can play the way they like best. You can try to beat the highscores in global and weekly leaderboards.

Levels

Prove that you are able to recover the stolen treasure, try to generate loops to advance beyond 100% and climb to the top of the rankings. Don’t want to play alone? Then connect a gamepad and give it to a friend to play in local cooperative mode. This is definitely worth a buy at .99 if you at all like Roguelikes. I will probably put 5-6 hours into this. I have never left a review before, but this is actually a pretty good game and currently the top review is negative, unjustly in my opinion. “Enemies come at you too fast/stacked on top of one another/Impossible to dodge” – I have to completely disagree here. Most enemies die in 2 hits at the start. Melee weapons knockback enemies as well as hit all enemies in their range. Them being stacked on top of each other is a non-issue for melee characters, which the first character is. Speed of enemies I have not noticed as being an issue. Some enemies are slower than you, some are slightly faster. Your character can gain speed upgrades and the first character has a dodge ability. “Mushrooms are difficult”- this I have to partially agree with. There are a couple factors here.)

Nuclear Throne?

The invinciblility frames (how long you are invincible after getting hurt) are very short. You can be hit multiple times in a row by a series of hits and have your whole health wiped out. Because of this, if you get pinned against the wall by any enemy you get trapped and die. I would like to see collision be removed during I-Frames so you can escape this situation or I-Frames just increased slightly.  Mushrooms themselves fire in a ring of unblockable projectiles (there is an upgrade to be able to block unblockable projectiles, but as mushrooms appear on lvl 2 its not likely a player will have it yet). This alone is not an issue, but there doesn’t seem to be a cap to how many mushrooms can spawn together. Often I have seen 5-6-7 mushrooms all together. They all spray in a circle at once, and since they are unblockable and I-Frames are short, its easy to be wiped out from full health from a few mushrooms. Think Rogue Heroes Ruins of Tasos, except that the whole world is procedurally generated, not just the dungeons, with less of a focus on item collection, and more of a focus on cleaving through your foes, and collecting coins to upgrade your character. Less exploration, more extermination! Coins are the currency here, as they let you choose to purchase new abilities from the shrines scattered throughout the lvls, in an arcade style that is very pick up and play.

Gameplay

So, More smash ie, less explore ie. Yes! Loot Lite is a bit like a fantasy Nuclear Throne, with the focus on fast play and unlockable classes, as in Loot Light, there are 7 classes to unlock, like the Dragon Knight, Assassin or Necromancer, that all play differently. Branching Paths Plus Twin Stick Indie Action! Plus, LootLight offers branching paths forward through the varied dungeon environments, like the forest, the graveyard, and the desert, as well as the literally trap filled dungeons: a classic is a classic after all! All of which are full of different and varied creatures ever growing in power as you venture further and further from your lonely house, all out to kill the heroic hero and take their stuff. With Controller support and Local coop, Loot Light looks like a fun 2D, Top down, Rogue Like / Rogue Lite, Perma Death rocking, retro Pixel Graphics Indie game. Cool. And it is. The issue is the overall balance and the fact that there are NO attack animations for melee enemies. The biggest issue with the fights is that the enemies just walk at you and you take damage. This isn’t as bad for enemies that are slower, but in the second area the enemy speed doubles while your attack rate is still the same.
