Symphonia Switch NSP Free Download Romslab My initial thoughts when booting the game up were amazement at how polished not only the gameplay was, but also the care and detail delicately crafted into the menus, HUD and gorgeous hand-drawn cutscenes that tell the simple, yet effective story. The story excels, mainly due to its ability to tell such a compelling narrative through little to no dialogue, displaying a masterclass in show-not-tell storytelling. The gameplay itself is no slouch either. If you have played any modern platforms such as Rayman Legends or the Ori series, you will instantly draw comparisons. ROMSLAB.COM Best Switch Games

Pair this with the Metroidvania exploration system, and you have a recipe for success. One of the game’s strongest aspects would have to be its level design. Each world not only fits the narrative with all of them being based on instruments, yet somehow the collectibles are laid out in such a way you never feel like you’re going out of your way to obtain them. In fact, I couldn’t imagine playing through Symphonia without going for the collectibles as they’re such a vital part to the game’s design and systems. The level design isn’t that of your typical platformer, and I like to think of it more akin to a Dark Souls map.
Each area of Symphonia is hand-crafted and has its own character and inhabitants.
Everything is connected with one main hub where you can branch out to the four other main regions to tackle the challenges. In these individual regions, the level design plays more as various minute platforming jigsaw pieces, that when all put together create the whole image. Having the game play out this way adds not only a unique nature to the gameplay that feels so fresh in a genre which is extremely oversaturated, but also gives the player a way to play small snippets with breaks in between without having to worry about losing their progress. Which, as you might have guessed, will almost immediately lead to you hopping across gaps, avoiding projectiles, and trying desperately not to impale yourself on the innumerable spikes that frame each screen you occupy. Nothing particularly new in the world of platformers there, but how you navigate this world sets Symphonia apart. You’ll have your trusty violin at hand, and while it’s a handy tool to play music and activate machinery, the bow is by far your most treasured piece of kit. With your bow, you can use this to strike the ground below, effectively pogoing you upward.
Play the violin to activate level elements and bring the realm to life.
You can chain these pogo movements, provided you can get into a bit of a flow state. The story and characters are occasionally held back by some awkward localization, but the lack of a proper quest-tracking system is what really halts the momentum. Like in the original, there is a Synopsis menu that summarizes your adventure so far and occasionally tells you where to go next. The problem is that these “synopsis” entries are a pain to sift through and can be vague at times, meaning you could be aimlessly wandering around the map until you stumble on a point of interest that triggers a cutscene. The inelegant, but often necessary, solution is to pull up a walkthrough. Tales of Symphonia also has a handful of side quests, some of which are missable. Once again, there isn’t a reliable way to track these quests, so it’s very easy to miss out on some. The presentation doesn’t do Tales of Symphonia many favors, either. The user interface has received a few minor tweaks, but it looks nearly identical to the PS3 port released in 2013. The cutscenes are just as stiff and awkward as they were back in 2004, and the overworld is bland and lifeless.
Experience and overcome fantastic challenges using Philemon’s abilities.
And the classic chibi-esque style feels at odds with some of the game’s darker themes. It’s hard to take some of the more emotional moments seriously when they are played out by cutesy characters. While you can still pause time to change your tactics, manage unique attacks called Artes, and use items, the combat itself plays out in real time. Success in battle requires some light meter management and stringing together basic attacks with Artes. This basic combat loop hasn’t changed much with subsequent titles in the series, but compared to Tales of Berseria and Tales of Arise, it feels stiff and painfully slow.

Eventually, as you unlock more Artes, combos become intricate and, in turn, are more satisfying to pull off, but the early hours can feel like a slog. To offset the repetitive nature of combat, you can play as different party members. Each character boasts a different playstyle with unique Artes and bespoke combos. Spellcasters like Genis thrive on the edge of the battlefield slinging spells from afar, while the assassin Sheena, voiced by the incredible Jennifer Hale, uses elemental cards to attack her foes. No matter who you play, you can’t escape the lackadaisical pace of combat, though. Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain Switch NSP
