RAIDEN FIGHTERS REMIX COLLECTION Switch NSP Free Download Romslab In many ways, Raiden IV x Mikado Remix isn’t the most inventive in terms of in-game mechanics, leaning as it always has on a triple weapon system – essentially bullets, lasers or a twisty purple plasma beam, which comes in two player-chosen variants in Raiden IV x Mikado Remix. You get a choice of three ships – two regular plane types and a mostly-naked fairy because sure, why not – and that’s your lot. Raiden IV x Mikado Remix doesn’t offer quite the chained scoring mechanics (quite) of other titles, or the sheer bullet hell chaos of some of the more highly regarded classics. Well, not quite; there’s still a respectable quantity of player-killing ordinance being flung your way at any one time, including some nicely inventive boss fights that do really tax my mental flow while playing. Raiden IV x Mikado Remix isn’t exactly a new game, either. It’s new to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but has been on the Switch for more than a year now. And it’s Raiden IV – basically – and that came out originally in 2007. Which was, in case you’ve not looked at a calendar recently, quite some time ago. I mean, Raiden V dates from 2016, so this is not by any reasonable stretch a new game. It is quite a decent game, however, remixed with a variety of semi-new modes and a new soundtrack provided by a wide and varied range of Japanese artists and bands, all apparently inspired by the Japanese Mikado Game Centers. So those of you hoping for that long-awaited Raiden/Gilbert & Sullivan Mashup will just have to keep on waiting. One day. One day.
Enjoy convenient features like rapid-fire button configuration, Practice Mode, and a restart function.
new soundtrack against a range of game modes – your typical arcade, score attack mode and modes that give you additional levels or an overkill mode that rewards you for pumping extra shots into larger enemies as they die. Not that this is in itself new; that was part of the Raiden IV Overkill remix that released back in 2014. Essentially Raiden IV is a bit like George Lucas’ take on Star Wars, a series that will seemingly never be definitively collected or “finished.” Is there a deep, arching plot that covers the existential horrors behind the never-ending war that seems to plague the world of Raiden? Hell no, there’s no time for that kind of thing. The series antagonists, the Crystals are back, and you’re charged with shooting them down. Neptunia Riders VS Dogoos Switch NSP

That’s all you need to know, and all you need to do. Raiden as a series does have some light plot elements, but Raiden IV isn’t where they’re explored in any way. If it makes you feel better, you’re fighting because the evil alien invaders spilled your milk, OK? Is that any better? Somehow I suspect it is not. Mikado Remix gets right is that essential fun element that pulled me in so many years ago. It’s not the hardest of shmups – though unless you do play on easy it’s not a cakewalk either – but it’s one that’s very easy to explain to anyone who’s ever played anything since space invaders in most modes. I can see that being a turn-off for the hardcore shmup faithful, the folks with way more skill than me, mind. At first, I started with more standard shooters like Gradius and Darius.
Enjoy the music on the sound player, and assign music to each stage just as you like with a mode.
Eventually, though, I would get into “bullet hell” games such as Dodonpachi that filled the screen with countless sparkling orbs of varying colors. Think of them as Skittles, except instead of tasting the rainbow, you taste sweet death if you barely touch them. And I was actually good at these games. Fast forward to last week, though, and I found myself flaming out in just the third stage of Raiden x Mikado. Where did it all go oh-so wrong? Like the Donner Party things actually started out great. My rusty Gen X self blazed a trail through the first stage with no deaths, which was great for my first blind run up that formula with some flashier visuals and even more aggressive enemies. Here, lieutenants and bosses fire volleys of bullets in dense patterns that will truly test your evasion skills. Neptunia x Sennin Ninja Taisen Neptunia -Hyperdimension of Girls- Switch NSP

The ship variety widens too; 14 different crafts favor different playstyles, with loadouts that range from homing shots, wide spreads, and Raiden’s signature purple toothpaste/boa constrictor. The variety increases replayability, as you scour the roster for a ship that suits your play style. Then there’s Raiden Fighters Jet Remix, the showstopper of the collection. It introduces a non-linear progression across its 7-stage run, picking between 12 different levels based on your performance. The result is a game that truly rewards patience and mastery, which should hook 1CC chasers. The sense of speed and unremitting sense of danger makes Jet the most intense title in the anthology, Compounding the frame rate issue is another unmistakable flaw.
Great for both first-time players and those returning to 2D shooting games after a long break!
enemy bullet speeds remain entirely static across difficulty settings. Sure, the collection’s practice mode completely removes bullets from the equation. But even the Easy difficulty will propel projectiles at high velocities, alienating any newcomers. The STG genre doesn’t have many entry points, and unlike the accommodating difficulties of 1995’s The Raiden Project (which introduced me to this great series) this feels like a missed opportunity. Before diving into the specifics of this collection, understanding the original games’ significance proves essential. Raiden Fighters, released in 1996, emerged during arcade’s golden age of shoot-em-ups, a period when Japanese developers were pushing the genre’s boundaries with increasingly inventive mechanics and spectacular visuals.

Each iteration refining the formula and introducing new gameplay elements that distinguished them from competitors like Bullet Hell and Gradius. The “Remix” aspect of this collection refers to the enhanced versions of these classic titles, compiled with modern presentation standards and expanded content. Raiden Fighters has always occupied a unique niche within the shmup community—sitting between the punishing difficulty of bullet-hell enthusiasts and the more accessible arcade appeal that broader audiences could appreciate. Each weapon configuration drastically alters how you approach enemy patterns and challenges. Some favor raw firepower and close-range dominance, while others provide superior crowd control or defensive capabilities. Neptunia X SENRAN KAGURA: Ninja Wars Switch XCI
