Riverbond Switch NSP Free Download Romslab Riverbond is perhaps one of the most easy-going, simplistic games you’re likely to play this year. Taking place within a beautiful voxel world, you’ll embark on a number of missions set within eight different environments ranging from idyllic sea resorts to dark, dingy caves. The gameplay is a typical hack ‘n’ slash affair with elements of twin-stick shooting thrown in for good measure, and there’s a lot here that will feel quite familiar to Zelda fans without actually going so far as to copy the legendary series (although those green gems look awfully familiar…). It’s a light, breezy experience that may well be lacking in challenge, but more than makes up for this with charming personality. ROMSLAB.COM BEST SWITCH GAMES

You can tackle the game on your own or with up to three additional players in co-op. Cosmetic skins are available from the start if you wish to customise your character, with plenty more unlockable as you progress through the game. You can choose to be a pug, or even an eggplant, but crucially there are no advantages or disadvantages to which skin you choose. There are also a boatload of different weapons to collect as you navigate the environments. You can hold up to five at a time, mixing up between melee weapons and long-range weapons, with bigger weapons inflicting more damage whilst being slightly more unwieldy.
Voxels instead of pixels
If half the game world collapses in an impressive cascade of cubes in the PS4 shooter Resogun , or if the PS3 game 3D Dot Game Heroes brings the flair of an 8-bit Zelda to life in blocky 3D graphics, then we’ve got it thanks to an underestimated graphics star – the voxel. It corresponds to a pixel in 3D, so it is a VOLumenpiXEL. And a rare guest in gaming history, but no stranger: The helicopter sim Comanche or Outcast already relied on voxel graphics, and the build engine used for indexed ancient shooters such as Blood or Shadow Warrior was also known for its voxel use. By the way: Minecraftlooks like voxel charm, but owes its characteristic look to polygons. Buried Stars Switch NSP

Most of the game consists of meandering around the levels and taking out the myriad enemies roaming around, but there’s almost always a key objective to complete, whether it be collecting a selection of eggs, or taking down nests containing more enemies. There’s very little depth to the game, but it’s actually very suited to handheld play, allowing you to jump in and complete the odd objective here and there, with the average level taking approximately 10 minutes to complete. Riverbond isn’t the most in-depth game on the Switch this year, nor is it the best looking. It does, however, boast an interesting art style, and its gameplay is simple yet engaging enough that almost anyone of any skill level can give it a good crack.
Hit. And shoot.
The pretty-looking 3D pixels are also used in Riverbond (which was released in June for PC, PS4 and Xbox One) – and they also ensure a visually very pleasing overall picture. In terms of staging and game concept, the title takes on Minecraft Dungeons, which is scheduled to appear in 2020 – because in both cases we are dealing with a simple dungeon crawler. Following a solid tutorial, Riverbond throws up to four players (local only, not online) across nine worlds, all unlocked from the start – the Crystal Guard stage was not included when it was released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, but it was included there recently submitted free of charge. If you don’t try to smash all the objects, you’ll be through with Riverbond in five hours – apart from the playfully irrelevant King’s Garden, where all unlocked characters roam, there is no additional content beyond the main adventure. There are plenty of unlockable skins and weapons to try out, and although there’s little incentive to replay once you’re done and dusted, it’s a decent way to spend a few hours during the quieter winter months. Riverbond is very beginner-friendly – and therefore also suitable for younger gamers. If you play cooperatively, you can quickly revive fallen colleagues, but even so you will appear again after a few seconds if at least one player is still standing. And what do you do in Riverbond?
Gameplay
The gameplay itself can be summarized with the word “simple”, but unfortunately that is only half the truth. Riverbond is also repetitive, superficial and lacking in variety. Even in a squad of four, the banality of the tasks (destroy five of them, free seven of them) is negative – at least you can argue about points and gold tumbling from slain enemies. This does not apply to blades or guns found in boxes – every player can use them from now on after they have placed them in one of five weapon slots. Be careful, by the way, if you send your colleagues into the voxel battle with Joy-Cons: If you have to play with the pinned-out minipad, unfortunately you can’t switch weapons – a foolish oversight! After all, the melee weapons (katana, giant lollipop, slap hand) with their different ranges and damage values for a minimum of variety; and with shooters. Bush Hockey League Switch NSP

Riverbond finally plays like a twinstick shooter. The frequent reloading ensures that the long-range weapons are not too powerful, but that in turn reduces the fun of shooting. Oh yes: a few non-specialist indie stars can also be seen, attractively voxed – so you can not only go into battle with lemon, sushi manneken or princess, but also with them, for exampleBastion , the Shovel Knight or Raz from Psychonauts .Hit, stab, hit. And shoot a little. You trek through the nicely arranged themed worlds with jumps and dodge rolls, experience a few nonsense chats with peaceful residents and smack everything that isn’t in the trees in the blink of an eye. And of course the trees themselves. Thanks to voxel technology, a large part of the level inventory is destructible – and crumbles appealingly.
