System of Souls PS5 Free Download Romslab Honestly, I found the story to be forgettable and uninteresting. It is not a bad story by any means, but finding out why my character was in an accident and sifting through their memories just did not interest me. Since the game is only about 3-4 hours long and L-064N does not talk, I never felt like I formed a connection with the character to truly care why they were in this position. There was a subplot that was beginning to reveal itself towards the end of the game and from side conversations throughout that was more interesting than the main plot. But the story felt like it was there to connect the different puzzles together. ROMSLAB

Similarly to The Entropy Centre, the basic puzzle structure in System of Souls is to pick up blocks and place them on switches to solve the puzzles. Instead of using a futuristic gun to pick them up, your robotic body has powers to pull blocks towards you. As you progress to the different areas, it starts adding different elements, like magnets and gravity changers, and abilities, such as a slowdown mechanic, into the puzzles. A simple puzzle structure is not necessarily a bad thing, as introducing new mechanics and creating obstacles can make them feel challenging. Unfortunately, System of Souls did not introduce enough new mechanics, or increased the difficulty to make it feel fresh.

I would argue that some of the more thought-provoking challenges were earlier in the game, which is not saying much. While new mechanics are introduced, they do not really add depth that I would have expected to make it more challenging. Through a nameless protagonist, you aim to clear four floors of a mysterious lab ran by Ion. This corporation seems very interested in your memories and, as our hero Logan only has a name to go on, he’s compelled to test until he gets some answers. The narrative is drip-fed slowly through mid-floor interludes that tend to act vague, rather than play it straight. I don’t think that’s intentionally obscured. The other individuals you meet appear to be in the same situation. They have stories of their own but it’s difficult for me to really connect with them. You’ll join up with them in the lobby of each floor which, depending on how quick you solve the puzzles, can be a while. The story is delivered largely in text with some video thrown in to act as Logan’s memories. Maybe some voice acting may have held my attention better but I really could not engage with it. It’s all told by Aura, effectively the AI companion in Logan’s head. I get no personality from it, no charm. The memory segments all just feel so dry and I suspect some of it may be lost in translation.

Surprise you and that will make you look for the most ingenious way to solve the different challenges that you will find throughout System of Souls.

As such, none of it really sticks, even with a narrative as bare-bones as System of Souls‘. Soul transfer is usually a simple process, but something went terribly wrong with L-064N, aka Logan. While we’re now in the robot’s body as planned, we only survived thanks to AURA’s intervention. But nothing comes for free, even in the future. As compensation for saving our lives, ION demands that we act as guinea pigs, conquering various rooms across four floors, each presenting us with bizarre puzzles and the occasional brain teaser. From a first-person perspective, we use our multi-functional arm for all sorts of kinetic maneuvers and can perform a sporty sprint at the touch of a button. The main objective in each section is to activate a few switches and/or place some cubes until we unlock the door at the end of each room. Red blocks serve as weights for red pressure switches and can only be picked up if our character is standing directly next to one. Blue cubes, on the other hand, can be pulled towards us from a distance. We use the jump function to overcome small gaps. We cover longer distances with the virtual grappling hook, provided the room has a grapple point. To keep the wild swinging somewhat under control.

The various puzzles that will be presented in the title, maintaining a difficulty curve and a satisfactory gaming experience for everyone.

You can activate the slow-motion skill for a short moment, allowing us to focus on the next grappling point. This only works, however, when L-064N is in the air. The slow motion ends upon ground contact due to extreme environmental decline, humanity’s last hope is to transfer their consciousness – their souls – into robots. After an accident, you wake up in a mute robot with amnesia at the technological company ION (responsible for the human/robot mind transfer process) and are set to tests to try and re-map your ‘brain’ with new neural pathways that would recall your lost memories and unlock your new abilities. Guided by an AI, you learn the how and why you came to be and the circumstances.

How the world has gotten to the point of no return. Philosophizing about the morality of placing human consciousness into robots with one-way conversations with other robots who have also undergone the procedure, and considering the ethics and thought process of a civilization on the brink takes you places you certainly wouldn’t expect from such a game, and with the very sterile but crisp visuals, you could easily have pulled out of I,Robot or any other futuristic robot thriller. Puzzle mechanics and abilities are introduced slowly, from gravity fields that invert gravity for two different types of blocks that can also be manipulated with attractor beams and a slow-motion ability, but the puzzles only really start coming.
