Taxi Life A City Driving Simulator PS5 Free Download Romslab sees you hopping behind the wheel of your very own cab in a partial re-creation of Barcelona, Spain. Your days as a cabbie begin in earnest after completing a driving test, not unlike the one you take as a teenager. Barcelona looks decent enough as you begin to make your way around, especially by simulator standards, so long as you don’t look too closely. Your taxi looks good too, including nice details you’d expect both inside and out. In cockpit camera, the game can be as tactile as you want it to be. Raise and lower the windows by looking at each switch with the right stick and pressing a button. Each vehicle has lots of features to manipulate if you want maximum immersion. ROMSLAB

If that proves to be too much of a simulation for you, thankfully each of the car’s functions can be done through a series of radial wheels instead, which are intuitive and easy to use. Along those lines, it is much easier to drive in the chase camera view, but far less immersive. The driving itself feels good, with a couple of caveats. For some ungodly reason, the only way to keep your car from rolling forwards or backwards while stopped at a traffic light or stop sign is to alternate light taps of the left and right triggers. Because holding the left trigger will make you go in reverse, this was the only way to keep from rolling into another vehicle without engaging the parking brake at every stop.
Earn experience points by driving, exploring and interacting with your customers, and use them to unlock new skills, such as the ability to accept longer fares
It drove me bonkers. The other caveat is more of an adjustment, I suppose, than an issue, but Americans should come in prepared to learn the traffic patterns and street signage necessary to drive competently in Barcelona. On the surface, it may sound like exactly what you want in a simulator – quite literally, all the nuts and bolts of driving a taxi. But Taxi Life is an exceptionally mundane game, which I know is part and parcel to the genre to some extent, but there simply is not enough to do as a taxi driver. In comparison to other professions, like a police officer or construction worker, which have a variety of tasks to perform and equipment to use, driving a taxi feels rather tame. I don’t know that taxi driving has enough moving parts to make a worthwhile simulator experience – at least not in this instance. That’s not to say that none of the complaints aren’t true. Pedestrians really do have a total disregard for their own lives, walking out into traffic regardless of whether cars are coming or if there’s a crosswalk. They just step out in the street without looking both ways, time and again, and you get fined every time you hit someone. While it obviously makes sense that a game that strives to be a job simulator doesn’t reward you for murderous behaviour, it’s disappointing that the game’s physics – which I’ll get to in a moment – don’t apply to pedestrians.
Monitor your dashboard warning lights and refuel or recharge your vehicle, or have it serviced whenever necessary
Rather, the game blacks out just before the point of contact and sets you back on the road with a stern message not to do it again. I’m not saying I want a taxi simulator where you can send bodies flying every which way…but I’m not saying that I’d be horribly opposed to such a game, either. Likewise, Taxi Life’s physics are a little wonky, but not in a way that makes the game more fun. Rather, they’re inconsistent – on multiple occasions I found my car flipped over because I accidentally nudged another car (or in at least one instance, a parked Vespa) the wrong way, whereas when I reached a point in the game when I stopped caring about getting fares and just floored it to see what kind of damage I could cause. If I hit something wrong I’d just stop dead in my tracks. It all felt anticlimactic you take on the role of a taxi driver in Barcelona. That’s pretty much all there is to it. You’ll tour the city, taking people where they need to go and slowly improving your vehicle and your skills as a driver. I suppose since this is a simulation game, you can invent a story for your character. Maybe he’s a reclusive loner who’s slowly becoming more and more disconnected from society, prowling the city at night and dreaming of ridding the scum off the streets exceeds is in its gameplay. This game is aggressively authentic in how you control your car, which really hooked me.
Transport your passengers across 286 miles (460 km) of roads in the game’s 1:1 scale reproduction of a large part of Barcelona
Simple things like needing to physically start the car before driving, removing the parking brake, and signalling at every turn add a layer of authenticity to the driving, but it’s little things that really enhance the experience. Being able to control the windows, air conditioning, radio, turn on collision detection or control the read-view camera gets about as close to feeling like you’re driving a car without needing to drive a real car. Almost as soon as you’re done with the basic manoeuvres, you’re thrown into the city proper. You’ll be struck by what appears to be a fairly accurate representation of the city, though never having been there ourselves it’s difficult to conclude whether it is or not.

What is immediately apparent is that Taxi Life is a game of two halves. While you’ve not got a fare on board, all gloves are off. It’s more like the aforementioned Crazy Taxi or the long since abandoned Midtown Madness series from Angel Studios/DICE. All you’ve got to watch for is pedestrians on zebra crossings who have the unnerving knack to just walk out without any warning whatsoever. Other mild annoyances are speed cameras as well as the occasional traffic cop. The only penalty from knocking over a pedestrian is a fade to black, whatever task you’re carrying out ending and a €100 fine. The fines for traffic violations are similarly insignificant, especially when you can garner many times that for just one fare. Desktop BaseBall 2 Switch NSP
