Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden Switch NSP Free Download Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden is the second game in the Voice of Cards series, taking on the same tabletop style of its predecessor, The Isle Dragon Roars. The world and dungeons in Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden are entirely comprised of cards, with tiles indicating walls and accessible areas. Similarly to Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars, these areas are broken up by a separate velvet-spread table used for fighting enemies in random battles. Both, however, can be enjoyed independently, each providing a different story with accompanying lore. This time around, the story follows the protagonist living on an island chain protected from monsters by maidens. The protagonist ventures out to assist their friend Laty, a mute woman who failed to fulfil her duty to become a maiden. ROMSLAB.COM Best Switch Games

As you journey across the island chain, you meet other maidens and uncover the mystery behind Laty’s troubled past. The Foresaken Maiden uses the same foundation as The Isle Dragon Roars. The entire world is made up of cards, and more reveal themselves as you progress throughout the game. When combat begins, you’ll be moved over to a different board where you can select skill actions. The first thing that stood out to me about this sequel is the increased level of interactivity with the world. With an entire world made up of cards spread upon a table, it can be difficult to make things engaging or convey intricacies to the player. Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden introduces puzzles in dungeons, giving the player tasks involving environment manipulation in order to progress and open doors.
The player can travel the seas as well, encountering shipwrecks and fishing spots.
It usually takes a while before we see a sequel to an RPG. Yet here we are with Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden arriving four months after The Isle Dragon Roars. Which means, well, things are going to feel similar! Not in terms of the story. This is a unique tale filled with warrior maidens, monsters, and high seas exploration. But given the brief gap between the two games, it will mechanically like a second verse of the same song. Barren is a young man living on a doomed island. In this world, people depend on maidens to preserve their homelands and lives. Omega Island doesn’t have one. So his dream is to set sail and explore. He won’t be alone either. A young woman with no voice named Laty’s been staying at the hideaway where he’s building his boat. FRAMED: Collection Switch NSP

However, after a chance encounter at the shrine near the village, Barren and Laty will set out to help her perhaps become the island’s maiden and save the day. It’s a tale that works well. There are certain tropes in play. However, the game plays around with them. In part because this isn’t only the story of Barren and Laty. There are other maidens living on their own islands. It is their story too. As you travel, it will almost be like your party acts as supporting cast members in their adventures. It’s a concept that works well. Not to mention the way it is handled means it fosters connection between the player and these other folks.
Voice of Cards: La critique de The Forsaken Maiden:
While this is a game played with plenty of cards, Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden is mostly a traditional turn-based RPG. You explore towns and dungeons. Fight monsters in turn-based battles, using general attacks and skills. (You set which skills are active outside of fights.) There are pieces of equipment and restorative items to acquire and use. It is all a very story-heavy affair, with even the tale calling to mind some other RPGs you might have played. (Many also from Square Enix!) If you missed the first game, Voice of Cards is an RPG told in cards. Everything in it is made of cards, from the overworld and characters to its menus and dialogue choices. It goes for a very tabletop appeal, as The Isle Dragon Roars has a narrator who orates the story to you as you flip over cards and venture across the land. Developer Alim also has some pretty hefty creative backing. The creative minds behind the world of Voice of Cards are Nier and Drakengard collaborators Yoko Taro, Keiichi Okabe, and Kimihiko Fujisaka. The art and music bring their style to mind, and do so again with Forsaken Maiden. Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars was an interesting RPG.
