Scar of the Doll is a Visual Novel from the 1990s, It doesnt look like anything special, and Its art style may turn some Modern Visual Novel fans away, but if you give it about 30 minutes you will realize there is something unique about this game it Just feels right.
The writing works very well. It seems very predictable at first, but it really starts to get interesting as you get into it. Despite feeling peacefull to the most part it shakes things up at times just enough to catch you off guard. It keeps you guessing all the way through. Ive played the game all the way through to the end, and do not worry it does not get bad torwards the end I personally think it gets better the farther into the mystery you go. This game was originally from Japan( Where it apparantly stayed to the most part) and had a English Language version on the Appstore( Which in looks was nothing close to how this port is) that got removed, I am glad to see it pop up elsewhere. Worth the price, Memorable little game. Hope it gets a new audience!I’ve just finished this game and I liked it, I liked it quite a lot. It is a shiny little gem that should be experienced by all fans of mysteries and dark secrets. The story was intriguing, the dialogue dynamic and I even found the artwork to be appealing (although it clearly shows its age, thus it may not work for everyone).

However, as Scar of the Doll can be beaten in about 3 without consulting a walktrough guide, I do recommend getting it when it’s on sale. I find 10 bucks to be a tiny bit too much for a 2 hours long experience. But if you keep getting stabbed every 5 minutes (ergo making the wrong choices – dont trust everyone!), it may be a much longer game.I enjoyed playing this VN, I am surprised to see an old VN without adult content which is so good.

I finished this VN, I was so into this VN, that I finished it within a week of this games launch on steam. I won’t mind playing this VN for a second time when I can. One of the best VNs of it’s genre I have come across on Steam. A short (3 – 4 hours) VN that’s a cozy read for anyone who’s interesting in mystery with some scientific intrigue. The pace is very quick throughout the entire run, and only slows down when it absolutely needs to.
It’s highly recommended you save across multiple save slots, since there are quite a few death points. And while the VN is enjoyable, the translation is very literal and dry, and reads a little strangely at time.

I did see a couple of bug oddities here and there (portrait and music issues, particularly when reloading saves), but nothing that crashed the game or took away from the overall experience. Those things aside, however, for something short and also cheap, it’s worth a read.A fun 90s adventure throwback. The characters aren’t necessarily well-developed or nuanced, but the writing is surprisingly tight. By the end of the game, I could trace where every character was at every point of the game and understand what they were doing and why. It makes me crave more mystery thriller visual novels in this style.I really don’t like this VN. The menus are good, graphics are good and all.

- First you will need YUZU Emulator. Download it. Open it in WinRar, 7ZIP idk and then move the contents in a folder and open the yuzu.exe.
- There click Emulation -> Configure -> System -> Profile Then press on Add and make a new profile, then close yuzu
- Inside of yuzu click File -> Open yuzu folder. This will open the yuzu configuration folder inside of explorer.
- Create a folder called "keys" and copy the key you got from here and paste it in the folder.
- For settings open yuzu up Emulation -> Configure -> Graphics, Select OpenGL and set it to Vulkan or OpenGL. (Vulkan seems to be a bit bad atm) Then go to Controls and press Single Player and set it to custom
- Then Press Configure and set Player 1 to Pro Controller if you have a controller/keyboard and to Joycons if Joycons. Press Configure and press the exact buttons on your controller After you're done press Okay and continue to the next step.
- Download any ROM you want from Romslab. After you got your File (can be .xci or .nsp) create a folder somewhere on your PC and in that folder create another folder for your game.
- After that double-click into yuzu and select the folder you put your game folder in.
- Lastly double click on the game and enjoy it.
NOTE: Some games may not run in Yuzu emulator, therefore you may use Ryujinx.
