There’s a pink paint that you can stick to, and a yellow paint that will let you bounce off it and make it across a multitude of big gaps. It’s pretty easy to use, but it’s knowing which one to make use of when, and with levels getting progressively harder, you’ll be pushed to your limits. If you’re a glutton for punishment, why not try a speedrun as the game has a mode for that. Every section is skillfully constructed to make sure that e jump is both exciting and satisfying to land. As soon as you’ve mastered the controls of one type of ink they introduce another to add in to the mix. Every time this happened it was never overwhelming or complicated, but was always exhilarating. It takes practice and work to get right, but there are few things more satisfying than shaving some extra seconds off your time and knowing that you completely mastered a given level’s challenge. It’s here that players will likely invest the majority of their gameplay time; there’s always something that could be done just a little bit faster or tighter to shave off some extra time. From a presentation perspective Splasher doesn’t necessarily have a wow-factor, but it gets the job done.
